The 2025 SAG Award nominations came with several snubs and surprises to shake up awards season.

SAG-AFTRA unveiled the nominees for the 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Wednesday, Jan. 8, an announcement that was muted due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.

Canceling a live, in-person presentation, the nominations were instead shared in a press release, which acknowledged the "devastating" fires.

"Our thoughts are with everyone impacted — the residents, first responders, and all those working tirelessly to protect the community," SAG-AFTRA said in a statement, adding, "To support impacted members of our artist community, donations can be made to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, which operates a natural disaster relief fund."

Wicked earned the most nominations with five total, and Shōgun led among television series with five nods. Read on for some of the biggest snubs and surprises from this year's nominations.

Snub: Nicole Kidman for 'Babygirl'

Oscar-winner Kidman, 57, was shut out of the leading actress category for her bold performance in the erotic thriller Babygirl, in which she plays a powerful CEO having an affair with an intern, played by Harris Dickinson.

Kidman won the best actress prize at the Venice Film Festival, earned a Golden Globes nomination, and was the National Board of Review's pick for best actress of the year.

The category instead shined a light on Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora) and Demi Moore (The Substance).

Kidman has 15 previous SAG Awards nominations, and she previously won for her work in the drama series Big Little Lies.

Jolie, 49, made her return to the big screen in Maria, portraying famed opera singer Maria Callas, but it wasn't enough to land among the leading actress nominees. This award cycle, she already earned Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations for the performance.

The category's nominees ended up being: Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora) and Demi Moore (The Substance).

The star has been nominated at the SAG Awards four times. She won for her supporting role in Girl, Interrupted, for which she went on to earn an Oscar statuette as well.

Snub: Selena Gomez for 'Emilia Pérez' and 'Only Murders in the Building'

Though Gomez, 32, is nominated as part of the ensemble casts of Emilia Pérez and Only Murders in the Building, she was not recognized individually for her performances in the film and comedy series.

Gomez was a double nominee at the Golden Globes for the Spanish-language musical and the Hulu show, plus she won the best actress prize (jointly with costars Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón) at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. For Only Murders, Martin Short was the only cast member individually nominated.
