When you've graced as many red carpets as Nicole Kidman, you're bound to have a few fashion regrets.

The Babygirl actress recently looked back on some of her less successful wardrobe choices at awards shows and premieres during an interview with W Magazine. "My mama thought I had many bad red carpet looks," she said. "I remember wearing a headdress once to the Golden Globes. I didn't know what I was doing. Got to have a few train wrecks!"

The Globes outfit in question was probably Kidman's look at the 2004 ceremony, when she was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama for her turn in Cold Mountain. (She ultimately lost to Charlize Theron in Monster, who also won the Oscar that year.) It's tough to narrow the year down, though, as Kidman has garnered a whopping 20 nominations at the Golden Globes, and won six, for To Die For, Moulin Rouge, The Hours, Being the Ricardos, and Big Little Lies.

Kidman noted that despite her occasional fashion regrets, she still holds onto all her outfits. "I've saved all the red carpet dresses. I have them all beautifully boxed. They're museum pieces," she said. She also revealed that her kids have free rein over her closet: "They raid my wardrobe all the time. I'm like, 'Okay, what's mine is yours.' But I don't raid their closet, even though I'm like, 'Oh, that's cute.' But I'm not allowed to take anything. It's a one-way exchange."

The Eyes Wide Shut actress also shouted out a few of her favorite looks, including "the chartreuse Dior gown by Galliano for the 1997 Oscars" and "the Galliano gold gown for the 2000 Oscars, which no one talks about."

Galliano gowns notwithstanding, Kidman generally prefers pantsuits to dresses. "I'm also partial to a tie and a suit," she explained. "My natural way of dressing would be far more pants, tie, suit, and a jacket. My first purchase when I'd saved all my per diem money was an Alaïa suit. I wish I kept it. It cost a fortune. It's nauseating that I did that."

Elsewhere in the interview, Kidman reflected on another seminal memory from her early career that signifies how much she valued looking chic. "When I was 13, I was in Sweet Bird of Youth [by Tennessee Williams]. I had no understanding of what the actual text meant," she recalled. "The director Jane Campion came and sat in the back of the little theater, and she cast me in one of her student films, which I subsequently did not do. I didn't want to do it because I didn't want to wear a shower cap and not look pretty. What a big regret. Huge regret!"

Campion would go on win an Academy Award for writing The Piano in 1994, and she directed two of the film's cast members — Holly Hunter and Anna Paquin — to Oscars as well. Kidman ultimately collaborated with Campion in 1996's The Portrait of a Lady and 2017's Top of the Lake: China Girl.
