Nick Cannon Says He's 'Pressing Hold' on 12 Kids for Now Because of His 'Bank Account' — and Comments from His Grandma (Exclusive)
The 'Masked Singer' host says he's "learning something every single day" from his children
Nick Cannon is "pressing hold" on having another baby for now.
The dad of 12, 44, recently sat down with PEOPLE to discuss his collaboration with Culture Genius, where he is executive producing and hosting a new interview series, titled Celebrity Dad Jokes. The dad of 12 will also partner with the digital network on three other projects: Super Dad, Big Drive and Daily Cannon.
While speaking with PEOPLE, Cannon opened up about comments he made on a recent episode of his and Courtney Bee's We Playin' Spades podcast on not being ready to rule out the possibility of having kids in the future. With his comments having now gone viral, Cannon tells PEOPLE that he received a call from his grandmother, asking if he had another child. "My grandmother called me last night, like 'Another One!' I was like, 'Calm down,' " he recalls.
The Drumline star explains that while he's "not against it," he won't be welcoming any little ones any time soon.
"I really don't know. I'm being honest. I'm having so much fun in this space right now, and the way my bank account is set up, I'm going to press hold on this 12 for right now," he tells PEOPLE. "But. I was just speaking of three years from now [or] five years from now, who knows? I'm not against it."
"There was a point in time where I was just like, 'Nah, I'm done.' And, then I was like, 'Who am I to say that?' " he adds. "It seemed like it was such an emphatic thing. I never imagined that I would have 12 kids. So, it's one of those things where I love children. I love my life, and if it could keep going in the direction that it's going, why not?"

The Wild 'n Out creator says that while he's "learning something every single day" from his children, there's one thing he learns "more than anything."
"I learn compassion more than anything, though," he explains, adding that he's also learning "to be more of a vessel" for his kids while acknowledging that he doesn't have all the answers. "When it comes to this, I'm learning every single day, and my kids are the best teachers. And, really everything that I am offering up to them, I feel like it's just God working through me."

Nick Cannon and his kids"I never take the standpoint of, 'Daddy knows best.' Nah, that's not the case. It's more about like, 'Look, we're going to figure this out together and we're going to operate out of love and compassion,' " he adds. "I'm learning that daily from having teenagers all the way down to toddlers. So, it's probably one of the greatest blessings I've ever had — accepting easy things and all challenges with the same heart."
Cannon, who's always busy creating something new, says that he hopes his legacy inspires his children to use their talents to "make the world a better place."
"We're here to just make the world a better place, here to make people smile, and here to be a servant. [We're] here to practice servitude to others," he tells PEOPLE. "Dr. King is my idol, obviously, but he always said, 'When it's all said and done, they're not going to worry about how many cars you had or how much money you made. It's going to be what did you do for others.'"
"So, I really tried to instill that into my kids," he continues. "Just be of service and your legacy will create itself after if you just are of service to people."
