Nicholas Hoult celebrates 'horrible' “About a Boy ”reunion with Hugh Grant: 'He’s very funny'
The pair starred opposite one another in the 2002 dramedy, which Hoult filmed when he was just 11 years old.
Now this is something to talk about!
About A Boy stars Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult had their very own mini reunion at the Governors Awards on Sunday. Hoult, who was just 11 years old while filming the 2002 dramedy, commemorated their get-together in a hilarious Instagram post the next day.
“Swipe to see a horrible reunion I’ve been avoiding at the Governors Awards,” Hoult jokingly wrote. He then admitted, “He’s very funny.”

Alongside the caption, Hoult shared a snapshot of him and Grant laughing together while outside the event, as well as a still from the film of them giggling together when he was a child. Grant similarly shared the images on his X account.
Based on Nick Hornby’s 1998 novel, About a Boy starred Grant as Will Freeman, a rich narcissist who pretends to have a son to meet single mothers at a local community group. There, he meets Fiona (Toni Collette) and her son Marcus (Hoult), eventually taking the boy under his wing.
The pair’s reunion comes after Hoult and Collette recently shared the screen in the Clint Eastwood-directed legal thriller, Juror #2.
“It's amazing to have worked with someone as a kid, and then, suddenly, there they are as a man," Collette told Entertainment Weekly. "It's surreal because I feel like I've played a lot of mothers, and there is a certain maternal feeling that goes with it."

Hoult noted at the time that it was “magical” to reunite with Collette for the film, explaining that they’d only run into each other once at a party in the 20 years since they shot the film.
"I have such fond memories of About a Boy and how kind and caring Toni was for me then," Hoult said. "In the time in between, I've watched her in so many wonderful things, and she's one of the most incredible actresses around. She brings joy, light, laughter, and happiness wherever she goes. So, there's this wonderful feeling of getting to be back in scenes with her and spend time with her."
Collette added that she equally impressed by Hoult and how much he'd grown as an actor. "I could see everything in his mind. I could feel the energy of what his emotions were. I felt so proud of him. I was like, 'My God, look how talented he is.' It really blew me away," she recalled. "And then we got to hang out. We got to become friends properly, and it's been a total gift. It's a treat to come back together again."
