NFL Players Send a Strong Message About Taylor Swift Supporting Travis Kelce at Chiefs Games

While Taylor Swift hasn't been in attendance at her boyfriend Travis Kelce's recent football games, fellow NFL players still have strong opinions about the singer's public support at games, sharing whether or not they think it's a good thing.

Football players got to share their thoughts through a new anonymous poll run by The Athletic, which asked players, "Has Taylor Swift's presence at Chiefs games been a positive for the NFL, a negative, or neither?"

The results showed that 74 out of the 102 polled players said that it was a positive. Only five players believed Swift's influence was a negative, while 23 players chose neither.

A player who believed that Swift's support is a positive told the publication, "I think that at the end of the day, it’s a business and you need to get as many eyes on it as possible. And she brings a lot of eyes, so, you know, if that increases the salary cap, I don’t think anybody’s gonna be too mad about that one.”

"She is not the NFL," said a different player who had the opposite opinion, claiming that the overwhelming coverage of the "Fortnight" singer has been "unnecessary."

They added, "There was the whole NFL opening season video on Twitter and she was featured five times and our quarterback was featured none. That’s not even right."

As for those who fell in the middle, some simply didn't care either way, such as a player who said, “I’ll jam to some Taylor Swift, but I don’t give a s--- if she’s at the game or not."

Another felt like the NFL needed to find a "balance" and not be excessive with the coverage of Swift at the games, but noted, "It’s bringing more attention to the game."

Ever since Swift started attending Kelce's football games last fall, the NFL has faced backlash for how much they showed the singer during game broadcasts. Swift went on to support Kelce as his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, won the Super Bowl in Feb. 2024, and she has shown up to a few games already in the new season.
