Michael Douglas talks about his son's dating life

Michael Douglas has opened up about his 12-year-old son's dating life.

The 68-year-old actor and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 43, are preparing their pre-teen son Dylan for the world of dating.

Douglas told People magazine at the premiere of Zeta-Jones's latest film Side Effects in New York:

"I’m trying to digest it all, and I’m just trying to remember what it’s like to be in a teenage romance.

"And what I remember scares me as a father!"

He added: "I’m not the over-protective dad. Dylan is a great kid and I trust him.

"He’s having fun and conducting himself very well.”

On who his son can date, Douglas said:

"I don’t have much say in it. I keep my mouth shut. But I like his choices so far.”

Although he stays out of his son's dating decisions, the Oscar-winning actor explained:

"[I] want him to know to always be polite and respectful and just don’t try too hard."

On his own love life with his wife of 12 years, he said:

"Catherine and I are doing well. She is more beautiful than ever inside and out.

"I support her with everything and she is simply the best."
