He said he felt the absence of his mother, who died in 1997 when he was just 15 years old, during his big day at Westminster Abbey last year.
William revealed: "I sort of prepared myself beforehand so that I was sort of mentally prepared... I didn't want any wobbly lips or anything going on.

"It's the one time since she's died, where I've... thought to myself it would be fantastic if she was here, and just how sad really for her, more than anything, not being able to see it."

Although she was absent from the ceremony, William said his mother would have loved attending his royal nuptials, explaining that she 'would have loved the day and I think, hopefully, she'd be very proud'.
More than missing his wedding, Prince William confessed that he is saddened that his mother never met his new wife. He said of Lady Di: "I'm just very sad that she's never going to get a chance to meet Kate."
