The event was hosted by Cressida's good pal, Princess Eugenie who ahead of the evening revealed: "The night promises to be one of intrigue and excitement, taking you on a journey back in time to remember your childhood. It will be a very unique, and fantastic event raising vital funds needed to support the work of Children in Crisis."

Tickets to the gala cost $134, the equivalent value of sending a child to school for a year in Liberia.

The drama and dance graduate is keeping busy since her split with the Prince, with news she has a role in a theater production of There’s a Monster in the Lake, which is currently running at Hay-on-Wye.

Just last week it was also announced that she is also set to make her film debut with a role in the film adaptation of Deborah Moggach’s 1999 best-selling novel Tulip Fever directed by Justin Chadwick and produced by Hollywood heavyweight Harvey Weinstein.

Set in 17th century Amsterdam, the period romance boasts an impressive cast with Dame Judi Dench, Christoph Waltz, Matthew Morrison, Zach Galifianakis and Cara Delevingne.
