Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge sends women into a shopping frenzy every time she steps out of the house.

Websites crash, items sell out and fans are left devastated when they can't get their hands on an item worn by the future Queen - who is said to be worth $2 billion to the British fashion industry alone.

When available, dresses worn by Kate have a tendancy to sell out within minutes or at the most, hours.

The Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress worn during a visit to the Blue Mountains in New South Wales in April 2014, is believed to have sold out within just eight minutes.

However it seems the 32-year-old is all too aware of the effect she has on women, and deliberately recycles old items or purposely holds off on wearing them until they have gone off sale.

Kate takes her royal duties extremely seriously, and she knows that her sartorial choices often overshadow the causes she promotes and the people she is with - including hubby, Prince William.

The Daily Mail reports that the Duchess hoards her clothes as a "deliberate strategy" to avoid causing a "fashion stampede" and to avoid running into anyone who might be wearing the same item.

Caroline Smiley, owner of Moloh, the label Kate chose to wear on Christmas Day, told the Mail: "I’m sure she likes the idea that things aren’t still in the shops when she wears them."

The brown double-breasted coat was from Moloh's winter 2012 collection.
