She's the cranky cat who has amassed a legion of fans thanks to her hilariously-grumpy expression - and now it's been reported that she has built up a $120 million fortune.

Grumpy cat - a.k.a Tardar Sauce - became a household name two years ago when a YouTube video went viral with over 15 million views - and now her fortune has eclipsed that of some of Hollywood's biggest stars including Cameron Diaz and Matthew McConaughey.

The feline's owner Tabatha Bundesen from Morristown, Arizona, said the two-year-old is 'unstoppable' and thanks to her she has been able to quit her job.

"What she's achieved in such a short time is unimaginable and absolutely mind-blowing," she told Express in the UK.

"I was able to quit my job as a waitress within days of her first appearance on social media and the phone simply hasn't stopped ringing since."

Born on April 4 2012, Tardar is a mix of ragdoll, snowshoe and Siamese breeds, while her cranky facial expression is due to feline dwarfism.

Speaking to New Idea in 2013, owner Tabatha opened up about how her furry friend shot from humble house cat to a celebrity with a big-money book deal.

"My brother Bryan took a photo of my cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, and posted it on Reddit," says Tabatha of the picture that received 27,000 votes of approval overnight.

At the time she was still coming to terms with with the magnitude of her pet's fame.

"I try not to be jealous, but the cat has a team of people working for her and I still have to work at Red Lobster!" she joked.
