Netflix is officially getting into the world of ranching — and all the love and drama that comes with it — thanks to their new show Ransom Canyon.
Officially hitting the streamer on April 17, Josh Duhamel and Friday Night Lights alum Minka Kelly lead a drama that follows the trials and tribulations of ranchers in a rural Texas town. While some are dealing with demons haunting them from their pasts, others are trying to get a new start after being dealt hard blows in life. And this is all happening as generations young and old are experiencing all forms of love — with one potential love story bringing about a battle to save the people and the land they all love most.
Sounds intriguing, right? Well, Netflix didn't just come up with this idea out of nowhere. Ransom Canyon is actually based on a series of novels from acclaimed author Jodi Thomas. She started publishing the collection of the same name back in 2015, and the Ransom Canyon romance books span eight novels and one prequel book. So while you wait for more episodes to come from the Ransom Canyon Netflix series, there are plenty of stories to dive into.
Grab your cowboy hat and boots, and make your way down south to read all of the Ransom Canyon books in order.
Prequel: 'Silverleaf Rapids'
Before we meet Staten, Quinn and all the other characters that make up the Ransom Canyon world, we must go back to the beginning of Staten's life.
This story sees the main character stepping into role as leader of his family ranch — and how his grandfather's legacy is embedded within him amid an era of massive change.
Book 1: 'Ransom Canyon'
Set decades after the prequel, this is where Ransom Canyon picks up on Netflix.
Staten Kirkland is an established rancher at this point, whose legacy in the Ransom Canyon area is one he wears heavily. While he deals with tragedy he never saw coming, he runs into the beautiful yet reclusive Quinn O'Grady. Turns out she has her own secrets — and she's not the only one afraid of her world crashing down around her.

Book 2: 'Rustler's Moon'
As the series focuses on many players in Ransom Canyon, this book follows three strangers looking to risk everything they have for love and glory.
As Angela Harrell tries to stop running from her past, Wilkes Wagner wants to have her in his life in some shape or form. And with freedom finally at Lauren Brigman's fingertips, she's just looking for Lucas Reyes to be her knight — er, cowboy — in shining armor.
Book 3: 'Lone Heart Pass'
In the third book in the Ransom Canyon series, Jubilee Hamilton is trying to rebuild the Texas farm she unexpectedly inherited amid a journey of self-worth. In need of help, she hires abrasive foreman Charley Collins to oversee her property.
Turns out the two may have more than just work chemistry... and Jubilee and Charley's trust for one another is put to the test in a way neither saw coming.
Book 4: 'Sunrise Crossing'
In this book, Yancy Grey (first introduced in Book 1 of the Ransom Canyon series) is trying to get his life back on track after a jail stint. As he tries to shake off feeling like he can only be an ex-con, he meets a woman hiding in his loft with secrets way bigger than his own.
Elsewhere, readers meet Parker Lacey and Gabe Snow — both of whom are trying to get more out of life than what they currently have. Their stories are about embracing what they have in the moment, and how they can build better futures.
Book 5: 'Wild Horse Springs'
The fifth book in the Ransom Canyon series welcomes back Lauren Brigman (first seen in Book 2) as she makes her way back to the area after graduation. She reconnects with her friends and family... but what about her bond with her first love Lucas Reyes?
In other storylines, Lauren's dad Dan Brigman stumbles upon Brandi Malone, who is lost in life after losing her daughter. While Brandi is alright with drifting through different towns, meeting Dan may just incline her to put down roots she wasn't expecting to.
Book 6: 'Indigo Lake'
The sixth book of the series introduces Blade Hamilton, a young man who suddenly discovers he's inheriting land in the Ransom Canyon area.
While Blade tries to rebuild the decrepit house on the property, he meets a woman who isn't prepared for all his charm and charisma. What's more, Blade comes from a family his mystery girl's loved ones have history with — and their stories may be more intertwined as their bond gets deeper.
Book 7: 'Mistletoe Miracles'
Set during the holiday season, this book sees Griffin Holloway desperate to keep funding his family's ranch.
As a ways to save the land Griffin loves most, he gets the brilliant idea of finding a rich bride to marry, so that his property and its legacy stay as intact as it can be. Will his plan pan out, or will something get in the way?
Book 8: 'Christmas in Winter Valley'
In the final book of the Ransom Canyon series (so far!), readers meet reclusive Cooper Holloway. He'd rather be in nature than be with his relatives during the holidays, so he decides to venture out to his favorite cabin in the middle of the remote Winter Valley.
While Cooper is excited for the prospect of being alone on Christmas, he runs into two unexpected people looking for a place to stay. And this is all as his brother Elliott is attempting to keep the Maverick Ranch (first seen in Book 7) afloat — although the entrance of a long-lost love may change his perspective on responsibility and loyalty.
