You need to see Meghan Markle's engagement ring from her first marriage
When Meghan Markle stepped out for her first engagement photoshoot at the Sunken Gardens at Kensington Palace in November, everybody couldn’t stop staring at her massive diamond ring.
Prince Harry designed the bling himself, with the help of the Queen’s favourite jeweller, Cleave and Company and the centre stone was sourced ethically from Botswana.
The gorgeous diamond is flanked by stones from Princess Diana’s private collection, with Prince Harry claiming he picked them so that his mother would be with them on their journey together.
And while Meghan couldn’t stop gushing over the ring in the couple’s official engagement interview with the BBC, it isn’t the first time she’s had a piece of pretty metal on her ring finger.
The now Duchess of Sussex was of course married before, tying the knot with film producer Trevor Engelson in 2011.
Trevor, who who met Meghan when they crossed paths at Northwestern University in Illinois, got down on one knee with, interestingly enough, a princess cut diamond ring.
The beautiful ring was set on a band of glittering diamonds, which were further enhanced by her wedding ring, which was also a band of diamonds.
Meghan and Trevor tied the knot in a romantic ceremony at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
The epic celebrations took place mostly on the beach and went on for four days, with over 100 friends and family of the couple in attendance – however the actual ceremony is said to have only last about 15 minutes.
But, fast-forward just two years after they said ‘I do’, and the pair had gone their separate ways, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ on their divorce papers.
Trevor is now a 41-year-old executive film producer and manager who lives in LA.
Rumours have been swirling that Meghan’s career might have been to blame for their divorce, with her breakthrough role on Suits taking her away from their home in LA and to Toronto, Canada.
Trevor is said to have remained in LA while his new wife commuted between the couple’s home and her film set.
In an explosive segment in royal biographer Andrew Morton’s book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, he wrote, “He [Trevor] went from cherishing Meghan to, as one friend observed, ‘Feeling like he was a piece of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe’.”
“Whether she wanted to admit it to herself or not, Meghan, who once said she couldn’t imagine life without Trevor by her side, was now building a new world for herself.”
He also claimed that Meghan “sent Trevor her diamond wedding and engagement rings back by -registered mail.”
