Yahoo Lifestyle NAACP Image Awards: Beyoncé, Malcolm Washington, ‘The Six Triple Eight’ Among Night 2 Winners
Reigning Grammy Album of the Year winner Beyoncé won Outstanding Female Artist and Outstanding Album of the Year to lead winners Wednesday during night two of the 56th NAACP Image Awards’ pre-awards show.
Beyoncé won the album award for Cowboy Carter, repeating her feat earlier this month at the Grammys, and got a bonus victory when her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, won tonight for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance (Motion Picture) for Mufasa: The Lion King.

Other Image Awards winners in the music categories tonight revealed in a livestreamed ceremony included Doechii winning Outstanding New Artist, and Chris Brown winning Outstanding Male Artist.
Wednesday’s categories also includes some film categories, including The Piano Lesson director Malcom Washington winning Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Motion Picture), and Tyler Perry’s The Six Triple Eight winning for Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture. Emilia Pérez, which leads all Oscar nominees this year with 13, won for Outstanding International Motion Picture.
The Image Awards, which honor the year’s best in Black achievement and excellence, will continue Friday with a Creative Arts ceremony ahead of Saturday’s main ceremony at the Pasadena Civic Center, airing live on BET and CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Tonight’s winners come after Night 1 winners that included Ayo Edebiri for Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television) for The Bear and Keke Palmer for Outstanding Host in a Reality/Reality Competition for NBC’s game show Password. Jamie Foxx’s stand-up special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was, Samuel L. Jackson and Taraji P. Henson also scored wins Tuesday across the categories of TV, short film and books.
