Mum hits back after racy bikini snap with son: 'Nothing shameful'

An Aussie influencer who sparked outrage after she posed in a racy bikini with her teenage son has hit back at trolls.

Sophie Guidolin posted a photo on Instagram earlier this year of her hugging her son while wearing a thong bikini to celebrate his 15th birthday.

The 33-year-old, who lives on the Gold Coast, was slammed for the "inappropriate" snap, with many suggesting her son looked uncomfortable.

She edited the caption on Instagram hitting back at criticism, saying she was in the pool when her son Kai woke up on his birthday.

"I wanted a photo straight away as he wanted to ride his bike and go out riding all day immediately," she wrote.

"Do I have a problem wearing a bikini in front of my sons? NO WAY. Why? Because I'm not sexualised to him, nor have I ever been!!!!

"If you have an issue, maybe you should look into why you feel you have to sexualise a woman's body instead of it simply being a mum and her son at the pool!!!!"

In a video posted on her Instagram Stories, the mum said "having a body was normal".

"I just want to say as well, those who have followed me for a while may remember I posted a bikini workout on the beach that had Kai in it and I got slammed for it," she said.

"The good thing to mention here is that I wear bikinis in front of my kids because my body is normal.

"Having a body is normal, having body parts is normal, it's not sexualised, it's nothing shameful, and it's something I reiterate and drive home here with my boys.

"So when they see me in a bikini, they don't think anything other than 'Hmm, mum's tanning, mum's going to the beach, going for a swim.'

"They don't see me and be like 'Oooh what a sexy bum you've got.'"

Since the backlash from the photo, a number of followers have thrown their support behind the mum, with many calling her "amazing".
