Announced back in 2023, Bandai Namco Filmworks' Gundam VR movie now has a trailer. The feature film, Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom VR, will be released for the Meta Quest devices. The trailer confirms that the movie will be set in the Universal Century 0096.

Watch the trailer below:

The film is a result of a collaboration between Bandai Namco Filmworks and Atlas V, an immersive VR production company based in Paris. The film is directed by Kenichi Suzuki, who also helmed SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors and Gundam Evolve. It is being written by Ryoji Kansai (Mobile Suit Gundam UC). The character designs are created by Tsukasa Kotobuki, with mechanical designs by Mika Akitaka. A behind-the-scenes look at the film has also been released.

Here's a new poster for the film:

"This is not a game, nor is it just a narrative experience - it's an immersive adventure that leverages the best of both worlds," said Atlas V’s Pierre Zandrowicz during a panel at Anime NYC last year.

Silver Phantom isn't the only Gundam movie around the corner, as one of the franchise's most popular anime series is returning. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans is getting an anime movie adaptation. Another Gundam project that was recently announced is Requiem for Vengeance project, which includes six 30-minute episodes.

Gundam fans have been feasting on new content from the franchise with Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom becoming the highest-grossing entry in Japan. What's more - Bandai Namco recently announced Gundam Breaker 4, which is in development for Nintendo Switch.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom VR currently sits without a release date.
