A New York City woman has been found dead inside a suitcase, four days after she was reported missing to police.

Pamela Alcantara, 26, was pronounced dead after her body was found off the northbound side of the Saw Mill River Parkway near the Palmer Road exit at the border of Yonkers and the Bronx on Thursday, March 6, ABC 7 reported.

She was last seen around 2 a.m. local time at her home on Morris Avenue in the Bronx on Sunday, March 2, according to FOX 5 New York.

When she never made it to church on Sunday, family members reported her missing and plastered posters around the neighborhood, ABC 7 and NBC New York reported.

New York Police Department detectives had been conducting an investigation of a missing female from 2200 Morris Ave. at the time Alcantara was found and pronounced dead at the scene, according to News 12 The Bronx.

Her ex-boyfriend is currently being questioned while in custody at the 46th precinct but no one has yet been charged, per ABC 7.

Alcantara's aunt Isa Peguero and cousin Naysa Peguero told the news outlet that they had arranged a place for Alcantara to live, as she was in the process of moving out of the home she shared with her boyfriend of around three years. They had also bought her a car.

On Sunday, surveillance footage captured the moment Alcantara entered her Morris Avenue home while speaking on the phone to her mother, Sunilda Rubiera, but there is no video footage of her ever leaving the building.

"She went to church, she went home, she spoke with her mom on a daily basis and she only spent time with church friends and went to work. That was it," Naysa Peguero told ABC 7.

Rubiera said her daughter was coming home from a church event when they last spoke on Sunday and she was preparing to attend a church event in Connecticut later that day, but never showed.

Alcantara's family claim there were signs of an argument and struggle next to Alcantara and her ex-boyfriend’s bed when they visited the apartment on Monday, March 3, but no other mess, according to ABC 7. The NYPD has sealed off the property amid a wait for a warrant to enter, per the outlet.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine Alcantara's cause of death, News 12 The Bronx reported.
