Inside Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's shocking split

It’s the split that sent shockwaves through Hollywood over the weekend but while Miley Cyrus may have sang that she Can’t Be Tamed, it seems the singer may have been craving a more settled life after all.

The 26-year-old Party In The USA songstress announced she and her husband of less than a year, Liam Hemsworth, were parting ways on Sunday, stating that they had decided to take some time to focus on themselves and their careers.

Just hours later, photos appeared online showing Miley kissing The Hills star Brody Jenner’s ex, Kaitlynn Jenner, in Italy.

And while it was claimed Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth was left shocked and devastated by the news, one insider reckons the writing was on the wall for the couple for a while now.

“Everyone always thinks Miley is problematic and immature and a hardcore partier while he’s this chill surfer dude, but that’s actually [not accurate],’ a friend of the couple told Metro.

“Liam parties with his friends, and Miley thinks he should’ve grown out of that by now.”

Another insider claims Liam ignored Miley’s pleas for them to go to couple’s therapy.

"He didn't come close to meeting her half way,” the apparent source told TMZ.

It’s a stark contrast to reports that emerged during the week, saying Liam is in complete shock over the breakdown of his marriage.

Liam was apparently keen to start a family with the love of his life, whom he’s had an on-again-off-again relationship with since 2010.

“He wants to settle down and have a conventional family including kids, but that couldn't be further from what Miley is after right now,” an unnamed source told The Sun.

“She made it clear she wanted to be able to have fun with other people - men and women - but it's always been something he's had a hard time understanding.”

They went on to claim, “Their marriage is over and Liam is absolutely heartbroken, but Miley is making up for lost time”.

Liam speaks about the split

On Tuesday, Liam broke his silence on the split in an emotional post on his Instagram page, sharing a post in which he acknowledged their breakup and asked for privacy.

“Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward,” he captioned an image of a sunset.

”This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets,” he continued.
