Liam Hemsworth 'refused' Miley Cyrus' pleas for marriage therapy

Fans of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are still desperately searching for answers as to why the couple of 10 years split, after less than a year of marriage.

The 26-year-old Wrecking Ball singer and her Hunger Games actor husband released a statement claiming they’ve both decided to focus on themselves and their careers.

However, according to one insider, Miley, who was spotted kissing Kaitlynn Carter in Italy over the weekend, pleaded with Liam to go to couple’s therapy, but he refused.

"He didn't come close to meeting her half way,” the apparent source told TMZ.

Liam in shock

It’s a stark contrast to reports that emerged during the week, saying Liam is in complete shock over the breakdown of his marriage.

Liam was apparently keen to start a family with the love of his life, whom he’s had an on-again-off-again relationship with since 2010.

“He wants to settle down and have a conventional family including kids, but that couldn't be further from what Miley is after right now,” an unnamed source told The Sun.

“She made it clear she wanted to be able to have fun with other people - men and women - but it's always been something he's had a hard time understanding.”

They went on to claim, “Their marriage is over and Liam is absolutely heartbroken, but Miley is making up for lost time”.

Liam breaks his silence

Yesterday, Liam broke his silence on the split on his Instagram page, sharing a post in which he acknowledged their breakup and asked for privacy.

“Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward,” he captioned an image of a sunset.

”This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets,” he continued.

Though he signed off ‘peace and love’, he did include a subtle denial of earlier reports that he spoke out from the streets of Byron Bay.

“Any reported quotes attributed to me are false,” he wrote.

The Daily Mail Australia earlier reported that he made a comment while spotted out for ice-cream with his brother, Chris Hemsworth, and his nieces and nephew.

“You don't understand what it's like,” he was quoted as saying. “I don't want to talk about it mate.”

Miley moves on

Despite only marrying in December 2018, it seems Miley has already moved on from Liam, after she was photographed kissing Hills star Brody Jenner’s ex, Kaitlynn Carter, while they both holidayed together in Italy.

Brody and Kaitlynn only announced their separation on August 2, just one year after they said ‘I do’ in Indonesia.

According to a source, it was Kaitlynn’s strong desire to have kids that really tore the couple apart.

“They butted heads over that constantly. Kaitlynn really wants to be a mom and never swayed from that. She thought Brody was change his mind, but he didn’t,” the source told People.
