Miles Teller and the crew behind the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic moonwalked their way to the late pop icon's real Neverland Ranch locale to film scenes, the actor said.

During a Thursday appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the Whiplash and Top Gun: Maverick star revealed that director Antoine Fuqua's upcoming movie about Jackson's life temporarily filmed at the infamous California compound that once included amusement rides. Jackson, who died in 2009, was also accused of sexually abusing choreographer Wade Robson as a child at the location, an allegation that was explored in the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland.

"I play John Branca, his entertainment lawyer," the 37-year-old replied when asked about the project. "We filmed at Neverland, it was wild."

Teller added that "somebody else had bought it" after Jackson left the property in 2005. Still, "we dressed it up" for the production, he said.

The film, titled Michael, also stars Michael Jackson's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, as the focal subject, and two-time Oscar nominee Colman Domingo as the Jackson family patriarch, Joe Jackson.

In a previous press release summarizing the film, Michael was described as “a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became known worldwide as the King of Pop."

“The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale — from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, captured by his most iconic performances,” it continued. “As never before, audiences will experience an inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known."

Elsewhere on Watch What Happens Live, Teller recalled being "a massive fan of Michael Jackson" when he was younger, telling host Andy Cohen that he "learned to do the moonwalk" when he was 11 years old.

"I kept grabbing my crotch as a little kid. I got in trouble so much at school," he joked, calling Cohen a "little pervert" when he caught the host looking down when he made the reference.
