These memes perfectly sum up Ivan and Nic's MAFS showdown

The premiere of Married At First Sight saw two couples tie the knot after meeting for the first time at the altar.

But it’s actually one of the brides’ brothers who has stolen the spotlight.

Cyrell’s older sibling Ivan has been the talk of social media after Monday night’s episode, due to his overprotective nature and awkward chat with Cyrell’s groom Nic.

Fans are rejoicing after Nic gave Ivan a taste of his own medicine at the wedding reception when he told his bride’s brother that his delay in finding love was due to his battle with cancer in the past.

“I got sick a few years ago,” Nic told Ivan.

“So every time you get a flu, you’re going to say, ‘You know what Cyrell I’m sick, I’ve got to go my way now’?” Ivan responded.

When Nic said that’s certainly not the case, Ivan asked: “So what is your sickness for you not to settle down?”

“Look, four years ago I had cancer,” Nic responded. “Had a form of testicle cancer but developed in my stomach so went through chemo, had surgery, went through a lot and I wasn’t ready to settle down and do that.”

Needless to say, that left Ivan a little shook and lost for words, and all he could then offer up was a firm handshake.
