Melissa Etheridge's son passes away at the age of 21

Singer Melissa Etheridge and her ex-partner Julie Cypher's son Beckett has sadly passed away at the age of 21.

Melissa's team confirmed the news on Twitter, writing, "We're sad to inform you that Melissa's son Beckett passed away and there will not be a Concerts From Home show today."

No further information was released, but according to Variety, a statement is forthcoming.

Melissa and Julie had two children together: a daughter Bailey, 23, and Beckett. The children were born via artificial insemination and it was later revealed their biological father was singer David Crosby.

The singer had previously opened up to Parents about motherhood, saying, "There's nothing like taking the responsibility or creating the responsibility of bringing a human being into this world and helping it in its first years."

"It doesn't matter the equation that gets you there or what you are to that person. It doesn't matter at all. It is the bond between you and the child."

Melissa is also mother to 13-year-old twins Johnnie Rose and Miller Steven, who she shares with ex Tammy Lynn Micheals.
