Megyn Kelly’s Career Advice To Women Stirs Up Fierce Backlash From Her Own Base
Megyn Kelly found herself on the receiving end of criticism from a somewhat unlikely demographic this week after her viral take on professional women who are also raising families.
“Ladies, it is possible to make your own money, have your own career, pay for your own swanky nyc apartment (etc), AND find a man who loves you, wants to have & raise kids w/you & wants to be w/you and only you,” the former Fox News host wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “The only thing stopping you? Your decision to settle for less.”

Kelly quickly came under fire from a number of other high-profile conservatives ― some of whom identified themselves as fans of her work ― who argued that her stance was patronizing, unrealistic and downright “cringe,” particularly coming from someone with a reported net worth of $45 million.
“I’m a month out from giving birth and I have a toddler. I can assure you, I’m not in boss babe mode,” Stephanie Hamill, a former One America News commentator, wrote on X. “I’m surviving, even with house help.”
“I remember Megyn admitting she doesn’t cook during a Thanksgiving show episode, (so what do they eat?) does her husband cook? Do they eat take out frequently? Private chef etc…,” Hamill continued. “This type of post puts very unrealistic pressures on most mothers…”
Another reply that received high engagement was that of Colorado-based business owner Jeanna Hoch, who wrote: “Not wanting to be a boss babe is not settling for less. My kids were raised by me, not a nanny or daycare. It’s ok to find a man who wants to provide for his family.”
A number of men chimed in with MAGA talking points, too.
“This is the exact mentality creating an epidemic of single and childless women,” an X user identified as “Sovereign Brah” wrote.
It isn’t clear what prompted Kelly’s post, though it preceded the Wednesday launch of her new podcast, “AM Update with Megyn Kelly.”
Others interpreted her remarks as a response to conservative author and influencer Ashley St. Clair’s bombshell announcement last week naming Elon Musk as the father of her 5-month-old child. As of Wednesday, Musk had not publicly acknowledged St. Clair’s claim, which, if true, would make him the father of at least 13 children with at least four different women.
