Meghan Trainor Reveals She Wrote Her Wedding Song Within 1 Month of Meeting Husband Daryl Sabara

"We were Velcro. Day one, I was like, 'You're never gonna leave me.' Day six, we were in love," she recalled

Meghan Trainor and husband Daryl Sabara fell hard and fast for each other.

Appearing on the July 8 episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, the "All About That Bass" singer, 30, revealed that she and Sabara, 32, knew they were "in love" after only six days together.

"We were Velcro. Day one, I was like, 'You're never gonna leave me.' Day six, we were in love," she recalled.

Within weeks, Trainor already had marriage on her mind. "Month one, I wrote our wedding song, that we walked down the aisle to," she continued, jokingly adding, "Yeah, we're gross."

After Shepard, 49, said he was "proud" of Trainor for going on to date her now-husband for "a couple of years" despite her feeling "all those ways" about Sabara in just six days, the Grammy winner replied, "We, like, stretched out as long as we could to a year and a half [before getting married]."

"Just to make everyone else happy," she explained. "I literally called my mom. I was like, 'When can he propose where people won't judge us?' "

Trainor and Sabara — who went on their first date in July 2016 after being set up by their mutual friend Chloë Grace Moretz — got engaged in December 2017. They tied the knot one year later — just two days before Christmas and on her 25th birthday — in an intimate backyard ceremony at their Los Angeles home.

In February 2021, they became a family of three when they welcomed their first child, a son named Riley. Their son Barry joined the crew in July 2023.

As the couple marked their fourth wedding anniversary in December 2022, Trainor wrote a touching tribute to the Spy Kids star on Instagram, saying she's "forever in that honeymoon phase" with her husband.

"4 years of marriage to my favorite human ever. I'm forever in that honeymoon phase. Thank you for making me laugh so hard, for always making me feel SO loved and for being the best life partner ever," she captioned a series of photos of the couple posing together and with their son, Riley.

"From saying 'I love you' on day 6 of knowing each other, and writing you 'Marry Me' after month one…I always knew it was you," she added.

In his own anniversary post, Sabara wrote to Trainor: "To the love of my life @meghantrainor…My best life started when I met you. I can't believe I got so lucky with the sweetest, funniest, most beautiful and talented woman in the world."

In a March interview with PEOPLE, the couple opened up about how they prioritize one-on-one time with each other amid juggling their careers and busy family life raising two young kids. The actor shared that he loves when the day is done and he and his wife can relax together at night.

"It’s like, once we put the kids to bed, then it’s our time," Sabara explained, prompting Trainor to chime in, "Date night! Every night is date night!"
