Patrick J. Adams knew his former costar Meghan Markle was a star from the beginning!

In the second episode of his Sidebar: A Suits Watch podcast, released on Tuesday, Oct. 1, the actor, 43, said it was "pretty clear" his former Suits costar Meghan, 43, would get a part on the show as he discussed their first chemistry read together for the hit legal drama.

Adams shared that he and the former actress "had done a pilot before" which didn't get picked up, and that they "never saw each other again" until they were later called in for a chemistry read together for Suits.

“I think just knowing each other and getting to calm down and not have those nerves of just getting to know one another really helped that chemistry read,” recalled Adams. He added, "We had an easygoing thing when we went into that room. And it was pretty clear that she was gonna get the part from the minute we did the chemistry read."

"It was just so much easier than it was with anybody else — she crushed it and she crushes it in the show," he added of the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan did, of course, end up getting the part in Suits, playing attorney Rachel Zane opposite Adams Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty, Dulé Hill, Abigail Spencer and Amanda Schull in the show, which ran from 2011 to 2019. (Meghan left the show ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.)

Adams previously opened up about how Suits changed his life as an actor in the first episode of his new rewatch podcast, which he co-hosts with former costar Rafferty, 51, in its Sept. 24 episode.

"It's weird to have a moment on camera where you could see your life change, you know? Because this is where my life changed," he told Rafferty. "The show changed my whole life. It's changed my career. It's changed the way that I work. It's changed the people in my life."

"So many things wouldn't have happened were it not for the show,” he added.

In February, NBC announced a spinoff series of the hit show titled Suits: L.A. featuring a new cast and following the series’ resurgence in popularity after airing on Netflix in June 2023.

When asked if there could be a possible Suits movie at the ATX TV Festival in June, Adams said, "Yes, and I say that being a person who has no power or authority, but obviously there's a Suits: L.A. show that is being made that is the focus of [Suits creator] Aaron [Korsh]. But it's definitely something he's interested in doing, in trying to get the band back together."
