Meghan Markle stuns in Dior kaftan paired with $12k earrings in Morocco
As the royal tour through Morocco continues, pregnant Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has continued to dress to impress.
She swapped her smart-casual daywear for an elegant bespoke gown by Dior paired with a pair of $12,000 (£6,950) for an evening reception in Morocco.
Meghan and Prince Harry attended the formal party at the British Residence in Rabat, after a day of engagements.
Meghan, 37, who is around seven months pregnant, looked stunning in the cream kaftan-style ensemble by the French couture house, with a flattering draped neckline and a beaded trim on the sleeves.
Harry, 34, opted for a navy suit and dark green tie as he and his wife met with military representatives and a group of young female entrepreneurs.
Earlier in the day, the couple visited the ‘Education For All’ boarding house in the Atlas Mountains, in Asni town, which has given girls from the poorest villages and most remote areas of Morocco access to secondary education.
A Henna ceremony was also performed on the Duchess of Sussex, which is a Moroccan tradition for pregnant women. It’s used to bring luck for weddings, impending births and other celebrations. Meghan is set to give birth in April or May.
Meghan’s New York baby shower
Meghan’s visit to Morocco comes after she spent a fun-filled five days in New York for her star-studded baby shower.
Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, Jessica Mulroney, Abigail Spencer and Gayle King were among the celebrity pals present at The Mark hotel in the Upper East Side.
Gayle, who is Oprah Winfrey’s best friend, dished on the lavish shower on CBS This Morning.
The presenter said she’d ‘never seen anything like’ the baby shower, which cost about $660,000, according to the Daily Mail.
“They did flower decorations, they had flower arranging, they brought in somebody to explain how to arrange flowers,” Gayle said.
She went on to reveal that Meghan had actually organised for the flowers that they had arranged at the party to be sent to Repeat Roses, which recycles flowers by delivering them to o patients in hospitals, homeless shelters and cancer treatment centres.
“I thought that was a very sweet thing, it just speaks to who she is, she’s very kind, she’s very generous and a really, really sweet person,” Gayle said.
“It was a very small, private affair and just a very special time for her.”
