The real reason why Kate Middleton skipped Meghan Markle's baby shower
Meghan Markle surprised many royal fans earlier this week when she touched down in New York City.
It turned out the Duchess of Sussex was in the Big Apple to attend a lavish baby shower to celebrate the impending arrival of her first child with husband, Prince Harry.
Many A-list guests were in attendance, including Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, Abigail Spencer and Meghan’s best friend and stylist, Jessica Mulroney.

However, one other A-list guest was noticeably absent from the celebrations – Meghan’s sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge.
While claims emerged late last year the pair were “feuding”, the reason Kate did not attend the baby shower was actually very simple – she was spending time with her family.
Since there is currently half term holidays for Prince George, five, and Princess Charlotte, three, the Cambridges reportedly decided to go on a skiing break as a family.
A royal source told The Sun, the Wills and Kate took their three children George, Charlotte and nine-month-old Prince Louis to the snow in order spend “some much-needed family time together”.
However, Meghan is reportedly set to host another baby shower in the UK which Kate may attend.
Separating the Cambridges and the Sussexes
Prior to Meghan’s baby shower circus, reports emerged last week the Cambridges and the Sussexes are set to create two different courts in ‘a matter of weeks’.
The rush is supposedly due to the impending arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child, and it’s hoped that creating two different courts will help “ease tensions”, according to The Sunday Times.
While the royal princes have shared a household for over a decade, times have changed since their roles within the establishment have altered.
“William and Harry’s double act has naturally been supplanted by the two couples and their families,” an alleged source close to the brothers told the publication.
The news of the reported split of Wills and Harry’s royal household comes after it was confirmed in November last year, Harry and Meghan were moving out of Kensington Palace.
The couple – who married in May last year – are moving out of London and into Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate.
Until now, the Sussexes have lived in Nottingham Cottage – a two-bedroom house in the grounds of Kensington Palace, where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also live.
