Meghan Markle 'cuts ties' with Jessica Mulroney after ‘white privilege’ scandal

They’ve been best friends for years, with Meghan Markle even reportedly making Jessica Mulroney one of baby Archie’s godparents, but apparently the former senior royal has cut ties with the Canadian stylist.

Last week, Jessica was dropped from both her slot on ABC’s Good Morning America and her reality show I Do, Redo after being called out for using “textbook white privilege” following her damning comments to influencer Sasha Exeter.

Now, a source has told Page Six that the “row has really given Meghan the excuse she was waiting for to cut Jess off for good.”

“I don’t know what the tipping point was, but Jess has been on the outs for some time,” another insider said.

“Their friendship is definitely not what it was. And really, how can you have such a close friendship when one person is basically making a career out of the friendship?”

The 40-year-old Canadian fashion stylist is believed to have met Meghan back in 2011 when the former actress had moved from LA for her role in Suits.

Jessica is high up in the social circles in Canada and is said to have introduced Meghan to the glitz and glamour of her new home.

The pair bonded over their joint love of yoga and even enjoyed a holiday to Italy together in 2016.

Just like any good BFF would do, Jessica was also said to be heavily involved in the planning of Meghan’s royal wedding which involved a secret trip to London to join the bride-to-be in dress fittings.

Famously, Jessica’s three children were a part of Meghan and Harry’s bridal party in May 2018 and it’s also claimed the stylist is one of Archie’s godparents.

In fact, the pair are said to be so close that it’s thought Jessica looked after Archie when Meghan and Harry flew back to the UK in January this year to announce they were stepping down from their roles as senior royals.

However, according to Daily Mail, friends of the Duchess of Sussex have revealed Meghan can "no longer be associated" with Jessica.

"Meghan is absolutely mortified that she's been dragged into this complete mess. She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation (with the fashion influencer) was tone-deaf and heartbreaking," a friend revealed.

Last week, Sasha Exeter publicly revealed the pair had been involved in a war of words behind the scenes, with Jessica reportedly threatening to contact companies that the influencer worked with.

Sasha told her followers that she didn't believe Jessica was racist, however, "she is acutely aware of her white privilege".

"For her to threaten me? A single mother, a single black mother, during a racial pandemic? Blows my mind, it is absolutely unbelievable," Sasha said.

When Sasha took this information public, Jessica shared an apology to her Instagram page for everyone to see, however, she also sent Sasha a private message threatening her with a lawsuit.

Jessica's public apology on Sasha's page made mention of Meghan, however, she did not name her friend, instead writing, "As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre.

"I learned a lot from that. I promise to continue to learn and listen on how I can use my privilege to elevate and support black voices."
