Meghan Markle’s Gold Necklace on ‘With Love, Meghan’ Quietly Honors Princess Diana
The deeply symbolic piece is featured in the very first episode of the Netflix series.
Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton, and other members of the British royal family often wear deeply symbolic jewelry—earrings, necklaces, bracelets—that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also full of meaning.
At the Invictus Games last month, Meghan’s joy bracelet (symbolizing the word she’s using with gusto to describe this chapter of her life) was an example of this; now, in her new Netflix show With Love, Meghan, she’s done it again, paying subtle homage to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana through a poignant necklace she wears in the first episode of the eight-part series, which debuted March 4.

Meghan Markle in 'With Love, Meghan'As Meghan prepares a crudité plate with cucumbers, carrots, and peas, Tatler caught the deeper meaning behind the gold necklace that can be seen on Meghan’s neck. The piece is the Queen Water Drop Moonstone Necklace with Sprinkled Diamonds by Logan Hollowell, described as bringing “good fortune” and “success in love as well as business matters.” (Yes, please!) It also offers “protection on land and at sea.” But then, the kicker: the moonstone is described as being “associated with the moon, and was the stone of the goddess Diana.”
“Moonstone is a very personal stone,” the lengthy description continued. “It is a reflection of the person who owns it. It does not add or detract, only shows how it is. This is why the moonstone is said to perceive that which 'is.' Moonstone is an excellent stone to use in meditation to understand oneself. Placing it in the moonlight of a moon reaching its fullness, not a full or waning moon, can revitalize it. This is a particularly good gemstone for women.”

Meghan has also worn a number of other pieces from Diana’s jewelry collection over the years, including a statement aquamarine ring Meghan wore for her wedding reception with Prince Harry on May 19, 2018.

Princess DianaMeghan has also recently paid tribute to Diana through her clothing, as well—both in a recent Instagram Story and on With Love, Meghan, Meghan wore a Northwestern sweatshirt, which honors not only the fact that the university is Meghan’s alma mater, but also nods to Diana—who famously wore a Northwestern sweatshirt after visiting the school in 1996.
