Just hours after Buckingham Palace issued a statement confirming they are investigating claims Meghan was accused of bullying by a former staff member, a source has alleged it was all over designer clothing.

Speaking to The Sun, the source claimed that around the time of the bullying claim, Meghan and a royal aide allegedly had a disagreement over accepting freebies from fashion labels, which is against royal protocol.

"As an actress it was perfectly acceptable to take freebies sent by fashion chains and designer labels," the source told The Sun.

"But Meghan had to be told it was not the done thing when you are a member of the royal family."

It come after Buckingham Palace said they will be investigating the claims and are ‘very concerned’.

"We are clearly very concerned about allegations in The Times following claims made by former staff of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.,” the statement said.

"Accordingly, our HR team will look into the circumstances outlined in the article.

"Members of staff involved at the time, including those who have left the Household, will be invited to participate to see if lessons can be learned.”

Amongst the bullying claims were that Meghan "drove two personal assistants out of the household and was undermining the confidence of a third staff member" according The Sun.

In a statement to Town & Country, the Duchess said she was “saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma”.

Hours later, a new snippet of Meghan and Harry’s highly-anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey was released by CBS.

“How do you feel about the Palace hearing you speak your truth today?” Oprah asks the duchess in the interview.

“I don’t know how they could expect that after all of this time we would still just be silent when there is an active role that the Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us,” Meghan says

“And if that comes with risk of losing things … there’s a lot that’s been lost already.”

The whole interview is set to air for Australian viewers on Channel 10 on Monday at 7:30pm.
