Meghan Markle 'too bruised' to tell father about pregnancy

Meghan Markle reportedly didn’t tell her father Thomas Markle she’s pregnant because she felt too ‘bruised’ and ‘raw’ after he staged paparazzi photos and spoke to the press before her wedding to Prince Harry back in May.

Earlier this week Kensington Palace confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting a baby, but Meghan reportedly asked her mother Doria Ragland to pass the news on to her father.

“Meghan was extremely upset and bruised over what happened with her father,” a source reportedly told The Sun.

“She felt let down and betrayed after he spoke to the press, when she’d asked him not to, so she thought the best way forward was not to speak to him.”

According to the insider, Meghan didn’t want to tell Thomas at all, but her mum Doria suggested it would be a good idea for him to be kept in the loop.

The source explained the Duchess “decided not to speak to her dad and it was still too raw for her to ring him and tell him the good news”, and therefore Doria communicated with Thomas instead.

Earlier this week Kensington Palace revealed how those nearest and dearest to the royal couple reacted to their baby news, but Thomas was not mentioned.

“The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple and were able to congratulate them on Friday at the wedding in person,” read a statement issued by the palace.

“Ms Doria Ragland is very happy about the lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild,” it continued.

Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle then spoke out, telling The Sun: “I would hope that — for the sake of the baby, the family, the world and my dad — that leaving him out of the statement was not intentional.

“I hope my dad is included and at a proper time. If he is excluded, I won’t be happy. It is in the best interests of the baby for my dad to be included.

“A baby changes everything and softens everyone. I would only hope that there would be some adjustment or some way of including him.”

Meghan and Harry are currently in Australia as part of a 16-day tour during the Invictus Games.

On Saturday night Harry made a special mention of his wife and their future baby during the Invictus Games opening ceremony at Sydney’s Opera House.

I have been so proud to be able to introduce my wife to you and we have been so happy to be able to celebrate the personal joy of our newest addition with you all,” he said.
