Yahoo Lifestyle Meghan makes her return to Instagram
Meghan Markle is officially back on Instagram.
The Duchess of Sussex kicked off 2025 with a new Instagram post, activating her first personal social media account since she shuttered her lifestyle blog, The Tig, and deleted her Instagram ahead of her royal wedding to Prince Harry. While it had long been rumoured that the @meghan handle on Instagram belonged to the former actress, she just confirmed her presence with a new post, sharing a video wishing everyone a happy new year.
Harper’s Bazaar understands the unfiltered video was shot by her husband, Prince Harry, at a public beach near their home in Montecito, California. In the clip, Meghan can be seen running on the beach, dressed in a California chic ensemble of a white linen shirt and matching jeans. As she skipped in front of the camera, she wrote “2025” in the sand before jogging away.
With the new year setting a fresh tone, the duchess also updated her profile picture, settling on a portrait taken by the photographer Jake Rosenburg. In the shot, she can be seen beaming from ear-to-ear, wearing a simple white dress in keeping with her preference for quiet luxury looks.
As for what we can expect from the royal’s Instagram account, Bazaar understands that Meghan is excited to return to social media as a way to reconnect with communities around the world and share updates about the projects she’s working on, looking to lead by example in demonstrating the potential for social media to bring joy and positive connection.
The duchess has long promoted constructive conversations about creating safer and healthier online environments. Earlier this year, she and Prince Harry launched the Parents’ Network, an initiative that provides a safe and free support network for parents whose children have been harmed by social media.
“When you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma, I believe part of our healing journey — certainly part of mine — is being able to be really open about it,” Meghan said during an interview, at one point reaching out and affectionately grabbing her husband’s leg. “I really scraped the surface on my experience, but I do think that I would never want someone else to feel that way, and I would never want someone else to be making those sort of plans, and I would never want someone else to not be believed.”
