Meghan and Kate's 'feud' addressed by royal biographer: 'They don't have many similarities'

Unease between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton is the reason why Meghan and Prince Harry will move to Windsor early next year, a report claims.

“Kate and Meghan are very different people. They don’t really get on,” a source told the Daily Mail.

The rumours come after Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, announced they are moving to Frogmore Cottage, on the Windsor Castle estate.

Until now, the Sussexes have lived in Nottingham Cottage – a two-bedroom house in the grounds of Kensington Palace, where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also live.

But there’s little evidence to support the claims the two women ‘don’t get on’, royal biographer Duncan Larcombe tells Yahoo UK.

“It would be a real shame to Harry and William if their wives don’t get on, but it’s quite a big leap of speculation,” says Duncan.

“There is no particular incident or occasion where they didn’t get on,” he says. “It is a very broad claim to be making, and is likely just gossip from palace staff.”

However, he agrees the two women are very different. “They might both be pretty brunettes, but really that’s where the similarity ends,” he says.

Why are Meghan and Harry moving to Windsor?

Of course, there could be numerous other reasons why the newlyweds – and parents-to-be – want to leave London for Windsor.

According to Duncan, their move is simply a logistical matter. The couple’s existing home may well be too small for them, especially given pregnant Meghan is due to give birth next spring.

“Harry and William are very close, so it won’t be a decision that will have been taken lightly,” he says. “What has happened is probably to do with the lack of availability of a larger apartment in Kensington Palace. The property in Windsor is the next best thing.”

As we reported earlier this year, Meghan and Harry were in fact expected to move into an apartment in Kensington which is currently being used by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

However, the Daily Mail source claimed the apartment “‘needs to undergo considerable lengthy refurbishments” and this is why the Sussexes could not move in.

Other royals living at Kensington Palace include Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Making room

Duncan also suggests the bigger apartment might be to accommodate Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is reportedly moving in with the couple.

“It’s pretty much confirmed Doria will be moving in and playing a hands on role as a grandma,” he says. “Meghan would rather rely on her than nannies.”

It might also have something to do with rumours Meghan might be having twins, as betting odds were suspended on the possibility over the weekend.

“If they really are having twins, they will need a bigger place,” he adds.
