Forget 'bouncing back', Megan Gale is sad to see her pregnancy stripes go

As every mother will know, the signs of pregnancy don’t disappear from your body the moment you give birth.

And while many women feel pressure to ‘bounce back’ after a baby (whatever that’s supposed to mean), more and more voices are encouraging new mums to embrace their changing bodies and be proud of the miraculous task it’s just achieved.

Two months after welcoming her precious baby daughter Rosie, model and actress Megan Gale is sad to see one of her favourite marks starting to fade.

“I'm a bit sad my linea nigra (Latin for black line) on my tummy is almost gone,” Megan, 42, wrote on Instagram.

“I love this little badge of honour as it's one of my last little physical reminders of my pregnancy with Rosie.

“I LOVE that she's out and with us but I'm missing being pregnant as well.”

Megan is also a mother to three-year-old son River - whom she shares with her AFL star fiancé Shaun Hampson – and was recently praised for sharing that she puts herself first when she knows she needs a break.

She posted an image of herself and Shaun heading out for a quick date night after dropping the kids with their grandmothers a week after Rosie was born.

Despite explaining that it’s “SO important for parents to have some couple time when / if they can grab it”, Megan’s post initially attracted backlash, but she’s since been showered with praise for her response.

“With River I barely left the house for the first 6 weeks, out of fear, out of guilt and I lost a little part of myself and also developed what I now feel was a mild case of post natal depression,” she revealed about her experience as a first time mum.

“If you've ensured your child is well looked after in your absence, then there is nothing wrong with some alone time as a couple or as an individual. You'll be happier people for it and more importantly, better parents.”

Megan is one of a growing number of new mums in the public eye who are sharing their post-partum journeys to encourage body positivity and a supportive community for women.

Former Biggest Loser trainer Tiffiny Hall is another, and she’s been open about her experience in the so-called fourth trimester.

Recently sharing a photo of herself before and after her first pregnancy, Tiffiny said, “Here is another kind of now and then, and you know what? I couldn't be happier.”
