Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie looked like their family was the picture of perfection: The Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-stars-turned-lovers-turned-spouses and their six gorgeous children were aspirational and Hollywood royalty until September 2016. FBI records indicated that Pitt allegedly was physically abusive to Jolie and several of their kids during a flight from France to Los Angeles, leading Jolie to file for divorce after two years of marriage and more than 12 years as a couple. (Later in 2016, the FBI and DCFS closed investigations into the incident without filing charges.)

Today, Pitt and Jolie have been split almost as long as they were together. While declared legally single, the exes are still hashing out several issues in court, including Pitt's lawsuit against Jolie over the winery they used to share—and their sons and daughters are growing up fast: The world waited with bated breath for Shiloh's birth, and now she can vote legally!

"They’re six very strong-minded, thoughtful, worldly individuals. I’m very proud of them," Jolie gushed of her kids in a 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, one of her first after her and Pitt's breakup. "They’ve been very brave. They were very brave."

Pax has been the most vocal about his acrimonious relationship with his father. On his private Instagram account in 2020, he captioned a photo of Pitt winning his Best Supporting Actor Oscar, "You have no consideration or empathy toward your 4 youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence. You will never understand the damage you have done to my family because you're incapable of doing so." He added that Pitt allegedly "made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell ... You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want but the truth will come to light someday. So Happy Father's Day, you f--king awful human being."
