Nicolas Cage is a proud father of three children, all of whom he welcomed with different women.

The Longlegs actor first became a dad in December 1990 with the birth of his son Weston, whom he welcomed with his girlfriend at the time, Christina Fulton. However, the two broke up the same year. Cage then went on to have relationships with stars like Patricia Arquette and Lisa Marie Presley before marrying his third wife, Alice Kim, in 2004. The couple welcomed their son, Kal-El, in October 2005.

In 2016, Cage and Kim filed for divorce. The actor was briefly married to Erika Koike in 2019 before starting a relationship with Riko Shibata in 2020. The two wed in February 2021 and welcomed their first child together — and Cage’s first daughter — August in September 2022.

In July 2024, Cage admitted to The New Yorker that having three kids with three women was not what he had planned.

“It’s not what I had originally thought would happen when I fell in love or got married — that I would have three different children with three different moms — but nonetheless that’s what’s happened,” he said. "So every child is different. There’s a different kind of level of attention.”

From their relationship with Cage to their children, here’s everything to know about the women Nicolas Cage has welcomed kids with.

Cage first began dating Fulton in 1988, and the two attended a number of events together, like the premiere of Rocky V in 1990 and Michael Dukakis' presidential campaign fundraiser party in 1988, when they were first linked.

On Dec. 26, 1990, the pair welcomed their only child, Weston, together, but split the same year. Fulton was a model who worked with Elite Model Management and an actress who starred in a number of films like 1991’s The Doors and 1995’s The Girl with the Hungry Eyes.

After Fulton and Cage split, the two continued to raise Weston together. However, in 2009, their relationship soured when Fulton sued Cage for $13 million for allegedly breaking his promise to let her keep the Hollywood home he purchased for her to raise their son in. They settled the lawsuit two years later, per CNN.

Weston was estranged from Fulton in his early 20s as he underwent mental and substance abuse issues at the time.

In 2014, Weston welcomed his son, Lucian, with his then-wife Danielle Cage. He told PEOPLE in February 2015 that he relied on his father, wife and son to keep him sober and strong.

“Having the combination of Danielle and Lucian and my father in my life, just that trinity right there, basically is going to keep me here,” he said.

In July 2024, Weston was arrested for an incident the previous April in which he allegedly got into a verbal argument with Fulton that became physical. The following day, Fulton released a statement explaining that she was contacted by Weston’s friend asking for her help as he was in a “deteriorating mental state.”

"When I arrived to offer support and console him, he was already in the midst of a manic rage. Within minutes, I was brutally assaulted and sustained serious injuries," she alleged, adding, "Despite my desperate pleas to the responding police officers to detain him for a mental-health evaluation, the police officers refused my request."

Cage, then 40, and Kim first met in February 2004 when she was a 19-year-old waitress in a Los Angeles restaurant. The two got engaged two months later and tied the knot in August the same year so she could travel with him to South Africa, where he was shooting Lord of War.

"I made a very clear decision to marry out of my own zip code,” Cage told The Guardian in July 2013. “I mean, way out of my own zip code. I married into another culture, and it's interesting because in Korea they call me the Son-in-Law."

On Oct. 3, 2005, they welcomed their only child together, Kal-El. Cage told The Guardian that he never spent more than four days away from his son, ensuring that he always put his needs first.

In 2016, Cage and Kim separated, which Cage later told The Guardian in 2018 came as a “shocker” to him.

“I definitely didn’t see it coming,” he said. “She was quite young when I married her and I don’t really have any ill will towards what happened.”

The two remained close friends after their split, with Kim even attending his wedding to Shibata in February 2021.

"After the wedding, the happy couple was joined for a small celebration attended by Nicolas' ex-wife, Alice (who he remains very good friends with) and their son Kal," Cage’s rep told PEOPLE at the time.

In 2020, Cage met Shibata through mutual friends while shooting Prisoners of the Ghostland in Japan. The couple were photographed for the first time in February 2020 during a visit to the pyramid tomb Cage purchased for himself in 2010 in New Orleans.

Shibata, who is originally from Kyoto, Japan, soon returned to her home country while Cage lived in Las Vegas. The two continued to date long distance, and Cage even proposed to her over FaceTime.

"We were really happy together and we were really excited to spend that time together so I finally just said, 'Look, I wanna marry you,' and we got engaged on FaceTime," the Dream Scenario actor said on his brother Marc Coppola's radio show in August 2020.

The two tied the knot in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony on Feb. 16, 2021. A year later, they announced they were expecting their first child together and on Sept. 7, 2022, August Francesca Coppola Cage was born.

"Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter," their rep told PEOPLE following the baby's birth. "Mother and daughter are doing fine."

In a July 2024 interview with The New Yorker, the actor shared that August was now his first priority above his career.

"Being a dad — to me, it’s not an art form, it’s . . . How do I put this? It’s like breathing. Everything is about her. You know, I can make a movie or not make a movie. I can’t stop being a dad. With her, it’s life. It’s my survival," he explained.
