McDonald's New Collab Features a Tangy Twist on a Fan-Favorite Menu Item
McDonald's is kicking off the new year with its first-ever collab with a female athlete that includes an updated twist on a popular menu item.
On Thursday, the burger joint revealed it had teamed up with basketball star Angel Reese as part of a new campaign "all about celebrating greatness." And what better way to highlight success than with a revamped version of a Mickey D's classic?

In a Jan. 30 press release, McDonald's announced it would be "elevating the game" with the limited-edition Angel Reese Special, which features a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder dressed with cheese and its "new Bold BBQ Sauce," along with the Golden Arches' "world-famous fries" and your choice of drink.
As for what makes this offering different from ordering a regular Bacon Quarter Pounder with cheese and a side of BBQ sauce, the secret appears to be in the sauce–which is described as a "gamechanger" and a "trifecta of sweet, savory and a touch of spice."
"McDonald’s has always been a big part of my life, from grabbing a McChicken® Sandwich as a kid to being named a McDonald’s All American in 2020,” Reese said in a statement. “It’s really a dream come true to be the first-ever female athlete to have my own meal and be a part of McDonald’s amazing basketball legacy. I hope the Angel Reese Special inspires young athletes everywhere to never give up on pursuing their dreams.”
The limited-time offer isn't all that the beloved burger joint has in store for this partnership, as the company teased its plans to drop "more heat soon." But so far, fans seem to be rather content with just the meal, as fans have already decided it "looks amazing."
According to McDonald's, the Angel Reese Special will be offered at participating U.S. locations while supplies last beginning on Monday, Feb. 10.
