Mayfair Witches Finally Name-Drops Interview With the Vampire Character in ‘Super Thrilling’ Easter Egg
The Easter Bunny paid a visit to the Mayfair Witches on Sunday, dropping a tasty little egg for fans of AMC’s other Anne Rice series Interview With the Vampire.
Allow us to set the scene: While Rowan’s search for Lasher led her motley crew to Scotland (just in time for Michaelmas!), Ciprien was busy jumping through bureaucratic hoops in Amsterdam. As if the Lasher situation wasn’t enough of a crisis, Ciprien learned that the Talamasca is also dealing with the release of a certain… interview. “Ever since Daniel Molloy’s book, it’s been all hands on deck,” Ciprien is told.

Mayfair Witches and Interview With the Vampire Just Staged a Surprise Crossover, With More to Come
If for some reason you don’t also watch Interview With the Vampire, Daniel Molloy (played by Eric Bogosian) is the journalist conducting the titular interview. The show’s second season ended in June 2024 with Daniel publishing his revealing conversation for all the world to enjoy. Though Daniel was only mentioned in passing, the short reference went a long way in reinforcing the cohesiveness of Rice’s Immortal Universe.
“The timelines lined up and it just seemed like a great little Easter egg,” Mayfair Witches showrunner Esta Spalding tells TVLine. “To me, it’s super thrilling when these shows can touch on each other and feel like they’re pulling back and forth on the same string. The idea that the Talamasca is dealing with Albrecht going rogue on the same day that they’re dealing with Daniel’s manuscript circulating, trying to figure out what will happen when it’s out in the world, was really, really fun.”
This was actually Mayfair Witches‘ second noteworthy crossover moment this season. Episode 3 featured a cameo from a vampire named Felix (played by Gabriel Freilich), who had previously appeared in the Season 2 finale of Interview With the Vampire.
As Spalding explained to TVLine at the time, she and Interview With the Vampire showrunner Rolin Jones had less communication during their shows’ respective first seasons, because they were both “figuring out what the individual worlds were.” Now that the Talamasca is inserting itself more directly into the lives of our favorite vampires and witches, Spalding says crossovers will “happen more and more as the shows go on — you know, fingers crossed.”
Did your ears perk up when Daniel’s name was mentioned during Sunday’s Mayfair Witches? And how are you feeling about the show’s second season thus far? Drop a comment with your thoughts below.
