This may be the most brutal, yet hilarious first date ever

Many first dates can be the start of something amazing.

However, sometimes they can go terribly wrong too – to the point where your worst first date may go viral.

That’s exactly what happened to one woman after her friend decided to post her worst first date story to Twitter.

In a series of WhatsApp messages that have gone viral on the social media site, one woman – ironically named in the messages as ‘Bridget Jones’ – details how an alleged surprise date turned into a nightmare.

She thought the date would be oh-so romantic as the bloke told her to “wear a black dress and I’ll surprise you”.

“Chatting in the car it’s going swell. Until we turn, and I’m like this is a weird place,” the message read. “Then I see the sign… oh god the sign… saying ‘crematorium’.”

This is just the beginning, FYI.

So, Bridget asked her date if he was out of petrol.

“He goes, ‘Nah. Just really needed someone to come to this thing with me’,” the message continues.

He kept this “thing” a surprise because he thought if he told Bridget she “wouldn’t come”.

Turns out the destination of the date – sorry, their first date – was his grandmother’s funeral. Yep, you read that right.

“People are sobbing and I’m like I can’t leave I’d be a massive b*tch,” Bridget told her friend, to which she replied, “YOU STAYED???”

“Imagine calling an Uber to a funeral home,” Bridget responded.

She ended up staying for the entire service and he was “holding [her] hand crying” the whole time.

However, that’s not even the worst part of it. Turns out Bridget was just a back up.

“His girlfriend had left him a few weeks earlier and everyone had been looking forward to meeting her so he looked for someone to fill the spot,” she wrote.

Clearly Bridget was the chosen one to fill that spot – lucky her.

The tweet has since received over 4,000 retweets and nearly 27,000 likes.
