Matthew McConaughey may claim to be a “tuna fish salad master maker,” but  Camila Alves McConaughey is setting the record straight.

The model dished to PEOPLE about what she thinks of the True Detective star’s internet-stirring creation.

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star told the 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast hosts about his unique tuna salad recipe earlier this month in a now-viral clip.

“I’m a tuna fish salad master maker,” McConaughey began before detailing the “long list of all kinds of things” that go into making “badass tuna fish” to Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer. “It starts with the base, you get the good tuna,” he started, explaining that he adds lemon,  vinegar and mayonnaise mixed with wasabi to make the base. The list of fixings is long and expansive, from chopped red onions, finely diced dill pickles gherkins, crispy jalapeño slices, apple, agave, corn and frozen peas.

Matthew went on to explain it needs to sit overnight for the final touch. “As you know, as every redneck knows, is it better right then? Or is it better covered after you put it in the fridge the next day it’s all coagulated, all the tastes are right, you’re sitting there now I’ve hit the home run.”

The internet was just as aghast as Segura and Kreischer as clips of people recreating the Dazed and Confused actor’s recipe but his wife of 12 years backed up her husband.

Before even being asked about the controversial tuna salad, the Women of Today founder told PEOPLE that Matthew makes a “great” tuna fish salad.

“He's a master at the tuna fish salad. Anybody that tries to replicate, it doesn't come even close,” Camila continued, cautious to share all the tricks to Matthew’s trade. “But it's not just a traditional tuna salad. He puts all kinds of stuff in there. I don't want to give his secrets away because I don't know what he shared.”

However, when she heard that he had spilled the beans (or rather, peas) on the recipe, Camila gushed about the dish even more.

While grilling steaks is Matthew’s “domain,” Camila detailed how the whole family pitches in on cooking.

“Everybody in the family cooks. Even my 11-year-old, he cooks Sunday breakfast and things like that, he gets in charge of that,” the Pantalones Organic Tequila co-founder said. “Everybody cooks, everybody helps clean. And when I need help from outside of the family, I get help too, because I feel like sometimes we need help and we got to ask for it.”

The couple share sons Levi, 16, and Livingston, 11, and daughter, Vida, 14,

Alves, who is partnering with Crock-Pot, explained how cooking looks a little different in her house when it comes to game days.

The University of Texas football-loving family goes to the game when it’s a home game (“We’re not missing that!” Camila said) but stay in and watch on TV when it’s an away game.

“We're in the house and we're cooking and gathering and the boys are throwing football passes left and right and I'm usually in the kitchen, getting things ready,” she explained, adding that while she loves to cook, sometimes being the cook means missing out on the fun. “When everybody is watching the game, sitting, having a drink, passing the footballs, having the inside jokes and all of that, I'm in the kitchen. Then I'll clean it up and get things settled in the kitchen.”

When it is just her cooking for a watch party, the right tools, like the Crock-Pot MultiMeal Multicooker, are necessary for the mother of three: “I can do two things at once and have it ready.”
