'Nailed it': MasterChef fail trolled online
There’s nothing worse than trying to recreate a complex tempered chocolate watermelon cocktail in an intense time-pressure situation with thousands of eyeballs watching you on the screen, am I right?
According to MasterChef’s Khanh Ong on last night’s episode, I sure am.
Last night saw contestants sweat it out trying to perfectly recreate an intense and intricate dessert cocktail concoction from chocolatier Kirsten Tibballs that involves tempered chocolate shaped into a watermelon, filled with a combination of everything from white chocolate chantilly to watermelon and vodka jelly.
For Khanh, the end result was more of an abstract take on the perfect spheres plated up by Kristen, than an exact replica.
Taking to Twitter the chef poked fun at his final product with a hysterical photoshop job comparing the ‘watermelon’ to a ninja turtle, and this likeness at least is uncanny.

The joke comes after Khanh plated up the dessert during the episode with a classic positive spin on the somewhat unsightly final product.
“I kind of haven’t made a watermelon,” he warned the judges. “It’s more of a ninja turtle. Which is – that’s cool.”
In welcome news for Khanh fans, the chef actually impressed with the flavour and technique.
Judge Jock Zonfrillo described it best when he said, “He’s just come up a little bit short on the visuals here”.
Twitter users love Khanh’s ‘nailed it’ watermelon fail
It’s a moment that many found highly relatable, with several taking to Twitter with their own interpretations of Khanh’s watermelon turtle.

It’s not the first time a contestant has been trolled for a lacklustre dish.
Booted contestant Hayden Quinn was slammed for a dish many claimed was not up to MasterChef standard.
