MasterChef fans left fuming over judges' comments
Reynold may be known as the king of deserts in the MasterChef kitchen but fans of the show were left annoyed last night when the judges kept bringing it up.
Callum Hann took out the top spot with his mandarin-infused duck noodle dish, beating both Reynold and Brendan in the ‘Heats Week’ challenge.
However, viewers couldn’t help but be slightly frustrated that the judges seemingly pitted Callum against one other contestant, constantly comparing him to Renold Poernomo.
“I was a bit annoyed with the judges last night when they kept telling Callum he’s up against the master of desserts. Doesn’t mean nobody can beat Reynold. Was happy he proved the judges wrong,” one person wrote online.
Another person totally agreed, saying : “They didn’t have to rub it in”.
“Callum is very talented and should not be underestimated,” a fan of the show wrote.
Others took issue with the fact that the judges are constantly circling the room and asking the contestants questions about their dishes, saying it’s distracting for the chefs.
“I wish they’d stop interrupting them for a chat when time is short and they need to concentrate on the task at hand,” a commenter said.
“Why do the judges always hassle them when their time is limited and start asking questions? Would the judges like it if they came into their workplace and started questioning all their decisions? Leave them alone and let them do their magic then get them all together for q & a after they finish,” another person wrote.
It comes after viewers were left baffled over the reality star's Japanese-inspired dish of kingfish tartare with rice wine vinegar and "scallop silk".
One user wrote: "Reynold’s dish looks like an oil spill." While another added, "That doesn’t look appetising at all Reynold."
Another joked: "Callum has served a meal. Reynold has served a weird pot pouri.” Others compared it to a beauty item, "Reynold’s scallop silk looks like my charcoal clay mask."
In the judging, Andy Allen quickly told Reynold his dish wasn't quite right, "I like the flavours, no getting around that. I think the balance is a little bit out. You spent so much time on that scallop silk and it's just disappointing because it doesn't add a heap to the dish."
