New Marvel Comics: Deadpool and the Green Goblin

Welcome to April, the fourth month of the year, and a pretty quiet one across a range of media — anime, video games, and comics are all in a bit of a lull this month. Nonetheless, Marvel is still releasing new comics, and while there aren’t as many new lines this week, there are a few interesting comic books to take a look at.

The first of the new lines launching this week is Spider-Man: Shadow of the Green Goblin, which sounds absolutely fascinating. It tells the story of a young Peter Parker facing off against the Proto-Goblin, the original Goblin who went on to inspire Norman Osborn to become the Green Goblin.

Here’s how Marvel describes the series:

NORMAN OSBORN WAS NOT THE FIRST GOBLIN! Norman Osborn is the GREEN GOBLIN you know. But he is NOT the ORIGINAL GOBLIN! Learn the shocking secrets of the PROTO-GOBLIN, and its dramatic connection to the Osborn family! What role does a young Peter Parker, who has not yet understood his great power and responsibility, play in this unfolding of events?

The other new line is Deadpool, which sees the Merc with a mouth facing off a brand-new villain: Death Grip. Later issues will see Deadpool teaming up with Taskmaster to start a “boutique mercenary agency,” which sounds like a lot of fun.
