Martin Lawrence Reveals Who’s Making the Toast at His Daughter and Eddie Murphy's Son’s Wedding: ‘I Might Be Crying’

Martin Lawrence is getting candid about the details of his daughter Jasmin Lawrence’s wedding to Eric Murphy.

In the latest episode of Sherri, the Bad Boys actor, 59, revealed that he is planning to let Eric’s comedian father, Eddie Murphy, 63, take the lead when it comes to toasts during the wedding reception.

“I’m gonna let Eddie do the toasts. He’s funnier,” Martin said.

When host Sherri Shepherd asked him if he was going to just “sit there and let Eddie get all the laughs,” Martin replied, “I don’t know. I might say something.”

“I might be crying,” he added, before saying while exaggerating sobs, “ ‘I just want to say this is a special moment.’ You know, I might be like that.”

The Martin star previously revealed that he and Eddie decided that he would pay for the nuptials. He told Shepherd, “[Eddie] said, ‘I paid for the last six weddings.’ You know, ‘cause Eddie got a lot of children. So, he said, [you’re] paying for this one. I don’t have a problem with it.”

Martin said the wedding money will go toward “what my daughter wants” — and that included the wedding menu. He said the food at the ceremony would be “whatever my daughter’s menu is.”

Eddie's son popped the question to Martin's daughter on Nov. 27 in a room filled with candles and roses. A video posted of the proposal showed Eric getting down on one knee, as Jasmin responded, “It’s beautiful. Oh my gosh.” She then said “yes” and shared a kiss with her him.

When Shepherd asked about how he felt about his daughter's fiancé and whether he had to “lay down some rules” during their courtship, Martin said, “Nah because he’s so chill and cool.”

“He’s a lot like his father,” he explained. “[He’s] real calm, cool, collected and just a cool young man.”

He also shared what he and The Nutty Professor star talked about after they got a chance to sit down and chat following their children’s engagement.

“I told him, ‘Can you believe it?’ He said, ‘Yeah,’ ” Martin recalled. “He said ‘As long as they, you know, respect each other, [it’ll be alright]. Yeah.’”

Eddie has 10 children — six daughters and four sons. He and his wife, Paige Butcher, share daughter Izzy Oona, 8, and son Max Charles, 6. He is also father to eight other children, including five with his ex-wife, Nicole Murphy — son Myles, 32, and daughters Bria, 35, Shayne, 30, Zola, 24, and Bella, 22. He shares sons Eric, 35, and Christian, 34, with former partners Paulette McNeely and Tamara Hood, and also has a daughter named Angel, 17, with ex-girlfriend Mel B.

Meanwhile, Martin has three daughters. He shares his eldest daughter, Jasmin, 28, with his first wife Patricia Southall, who was formerly Miss Virginia USA. He also shares daughters Iyanna, 24, and Amara, 22, with his second wife, Shamicka Gibbs, a TV personality and entrepreneur whom he married in 2010.
