Martha Stewart Is the Ultimate Beauty Influencer in 'Nude' MAC Cosmetics' Ad: 'I Love Those Thirst Traps' (Exclusive)
Stewart posed in nude lipstick for a new MAC Cosmetics campaign and gave PEOPLE tips on how to take the perfect cheeky photos
All eyes are on Martha Stewart.
The lifestyle expert and businesswoman, 83, stars in MAC Cosmetics' newest campaign — titled "I Only Wear MAC" — where she cheekily leans into the brand's nude shades. What better way to do that than with one of her signature thirst trap photos?
Stewart was more than happy to oblige.
"[The photos are] charming and I think they'll get some attention," she tells PEOPLE exclusively with a laugh. "I love what I look like in these pictures. They're almost selfie-like. This fabulous nude color lipstick really makes the face. It's a beautiful color."
In the campaign photo, Stewart is made to look like she's taking a glam selfie in her pajamas while wearing her MAC Cosmetics nude shades. She's rocking the M·A·CXIMAL Sleek Satin Lipstick in Fleshpot, which she was a huge fan of. It's just one small part of the 20 naughty nude lipsticks in the lineup, in addition to a new 28-shade nude eye palette and nude lip liners — so you have everything you need for all your nude makeup looks.
For the bold campaign, MAC Cosmetics pushed the envelope with the "nude" messaging — but the brand also wanted to celebrate authenticity and confidence, two things that Stewart feels very strongly about.
"It's no good running around feeling unsure of oneself, or not believing that you can get a job done in the right way, so, I constantly try to get people to just step up, step up to the job and feel good, and be proud of the result," Stewart says of always encouraging people to be confident.

There's no shortage of confidence in Stewart's "I Only Wear MAC" photo, and it's safe to say she's cemented herself as a beauty influencer at this point.
She hasn't, however, told her daughter, Alexis Stewart, or her granddaughter, Jude, about her latest gig, yet. The cookbook author is confident that both of them will think this is one of the coolest projects on her résumé, though — especially Jude, who is already passionate about makeup at age 13.
"I haven't shown her the pictures. I think she would be shocked. Grandma looking like this!" Stewart jokes. "She's going to think it's cool, though. She could be a makeup artist. She could just go away into any studio and make up anything. She knows the ingredients in every single product — she's just very interested in it. If you could see her makeup table! It's so nice to see a young girl interested and using it in the very nicest way and caring about the skin."

Stewart's quite proud of her latest foray into the beauty space, and in fact, she wants everyone to be able to take a photo as iconic as hers. She's become known for her gorgeous selfies on Instagram — dropping them here and there on Instagram in the last few years — and she's mastered her angles.
She truly has become the queen of the thirst trap.
"I love those thirst traps," she says of the shameless selfies she shares, knowing how much her social media audience also loves them. And she's not going to gatekeep how to take a photo as beautiful as hers either.
"Well, you have to feel that you look good," she advises. "Don't question yourself. Just put on a little fresh makeup and you look at yourself in the mirror and say, 'Oh, boy, I really look OK.' Take the picture and make sure you have light on your face. I always have light directly on my face."
All of that comes together for the perfect photo — just like the one she took for the new campaign, which Stewart jokingly hopes has another outcome in addition to boosting confidence and authenticity: "Maybe some handsome man will ask me for a date."
