Things got very awkward on-air between Married At First Sight groom Ivan Sarakula and Hit 101.3's Daniel ‘Gawndy’ Gawned and Ash Pollard yesterday.

The real estate agent, who describes himself as “ambitious, opinionated and loyal” on his Instagram page immediately got annoyed after Gawndy opened up the interview by saying: "Welcome to the show, the tall, light and ugly Ivan. Hello!"

"That's a good way to start off an interview if you want to get s**t out of me," Ivan replied.

Gawndy was referring to Ivan’s wife’s admission on the show that she usually goes for tall, dark and handsome men, claiming Ivan is just tall.

"Mate, I'm just referring to how she didn’t [Aleksandra] didn't call you tall, dark and handsome," Gawndy said, clearly getting frustrated.

"She didn't call me ugly, though," Ivan responded, with Gawndy telling the reality TV star that he’s simply trying to have a “bit of radio banter mate”.

"Mate, we're pretty happy to cut this interview right here, right now, to be honest. We don't really need to talk to you if we don't want to," Gawndy said.

Ivan agreed, with both saying short goodbyes and hanging up, with Gawndy calling it the “shortest interview in Married At First Sight history”.

The interview came just  hours after Ivan’s bride, Aleks, told camera on the show: “As days pass, I feel deeper for Ivan if he doesn't p**s me off. Is there sexual chemistry there? I don't think so at the moment.

“We're just having a great time getting along as friends. I think that's the best way to build a relationship, because sometimes it does start as friendships and then you move on to love.”

Meanwhile Ivan told the experts he “couldn't have been matched with a better person”.
