Every season, Marks & Spencer wins me over with its range of versatile dresses, luxury-looking handbags, and supportive yet stylish shoes. In fact, my wardrobe is packed with M&S buys. However, one of my best finds of 2024 was, by far, a timeless and classic black jersey dress that was a bargain at £29.50.
It's everything I could of wanted from a staple midi dress that I can wear all year round, and I've lost count of the amount of times I've worn it (you can find my full review here). As you can imagine, such a versatile and affordable M&S item did not stay in stock for long, so my dress is no longer available.
However, luckily, M&S has just dropped a near identical version for 2025. The Round Neck Midi Column Dress retails for the same great value price of £29.50, has an extremely similar shape, and this time comes in black, green and oatmeal. It's already racking up five-star reviews, with one shopper saying they "feel gorgeous" while wearing it and I'd have to agree.

The only difference is that the new number is made from a slightly different material. Mine featured more of a textured jersey fabric, whereas this one is made from a plainer material with a subtle stripe running throughout, which many may actually prefer, as it helps to elongate and flatter your body shape, all while still being stretchy for all-day comfort.

As this dress was such a hit last year, M&S has already expanded the colour options, giving you three to choose from this year. As well as the classic black, there's also a muted oatmeal hue and a bright green option to add a pop of colour to your spring wardrobe.
The dress is already racking up five-star reviews, with one shopper saying they "thought it was slimming and skims over lumps and bumps", while another added it's "a simple easy to wear dress, that is a flattering fit with lovely sleeves that really make the dress a little bit different."
I'd have to agree that the shape is super flattering and doesn't cling to areas I'm more conscious of, which can often happen with this style of dress. I'm a size 12, and found the dress to be true to size too.
