As IF we needed another reason to pop the champers!

A new study conducted by Reading University says that drinking three glasses of champagne a week might actually be beneficial in preventing dementia and Alzheimer’s.

The study - on rats - concluded that a compound found in pinot noir and pinot meunier - both of which are used to make the golden elixir - can boost spatial memory and ward off brain disease.

"The results were dramatic," Professor Jeremy Spencer told the Mail.

"This research is exciting because it illustrates for the first time that moderate consumption of champagne has the potential to influence cognitive functioning such as memory."
