We’re used to seeing Leonardo DiCaprio surrounded by a gaggle of beautiful women, so we were a little gobsmacked today to see a picture of him with the Pope.

The actor jetted into Italy and made a casual stop at the Vatican, where he reportedly had a 15-minute conversation with Pope Francis about the environment.

DiCaprio, speaking Italian (swoon), thanked the pope for receiving him and then, switching to English, gave him a book of paintings by 16th century Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch.

Pointing to one painting, DiCaprio told the pope it had hung over his bed as a boy and said, "through my child's eyes it represented our planet."

"It represents to me the promise of the future and enlightenment and it is representational of your view here as well," he reportedly said.

While the rest of the conversation was private, AAP reports that DiCaprio gave the pope a check for an undisclosed sum, which appeared to be a donation for papal charities.

Considering he was mauled by a bear in The Revenant and is now gleefully giving his fortune away, we think it’s high time someone just gave him the Oscar already.
