The pay gap in Hollywood has been a hot topic of late, with Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller speaking out against the fact that females are paid significantly less than their male co-stars.

Scarlett Johansson however has helped prove all hope is not lost.

The 30-year-old actress has revealed she took home an impressive $US20 million for her role as Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

While that's still a fair way behind Robert Downey Jr.'s $US40 million - the positive news is that she took home more than all of the other male cast (almost combined!)

Chris Evans took home $US6.9 million, Jeremy Renner made $US6.1 million, Chris Hemsworth came in at $US5.4 million and Mark Ruffalo earned $US2.8 million.

While there's still a long way to go, hopefully this will help set an example and we'll start to see more of this.
