Taylor Swift is one step closer to world domination. For the first time ever, the 25-year-old singer has made the Forbes Top 100 list of most powerful women in the world. She can also lay claim that she is the youngest one on there.

Other entertainment heavy hitters include Oprah Winfrey (12), Beyoncé (18) and Angelina Jolie (54). Oddly, Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara (54) was ranked higher in influence than media maven Arianna Huffington (61). The same can’t be said for both Gisele and Lady Gaga, who both dropped off this year.

At the top end of town, German Chancellor Angela Merkel once again took out the number one spot (a title she has held since 2010). But nipping at her heels is US Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, who has appeared on the list every year since it launched in 2004.

Rounding out the top 10 were Melinda Gates (of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation); Janet Yellen (chair of the US Federal Reserve System); Mary Barra (CEO of General Motors); Christine Lagarde (managing director of the International Monetary Fund); Dilma Roussef (President of Brazil), Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Wojcicki (CEO of YouTube) and Michelle Obama.

Gina Rinehart was the only Australian on the list (number 37), given that former Westpac CEO Gail Kelly was also omitted, due to her resignation late last year.

Across the ditch, Helen Clarke did kiwis proud by coming in at number 23, thanks to her work with the UN.
